Relatively few studies have been published on relative costs of pharmacologic therapies. Because the costs are not stable, many reports are obsolete by the time they are published. From the reader's viewpoint, a confusing feature is the variability of of criteria for economic costings and economic models used. Depending on the authors, all recommended pharmacologic agents emerge as cost-effective from the analyses [91-95]. Regarding treatments in the UK in late 2007, the following were inexpensive: all tricyclics, gabapentin, tramadol, morphine, methadone, sodium valproate, whereas oxycodone was moderately expensive and pregabalin and lidocaine plasters expensive.
