Also notice that the information contained in the checkerboard in sum contains information that equals that contained in row 4 of Pascal's triangle (Table 5.6), which represents all possible combinations of the mother's and father's genotypes. The probability of each genotype is given by the product of (p2 + 2pq + q2) x (p2 + 2pq + q2).

Since individuals of different racial groups often show significant differences from each other in response to exogenous substances, a comprehensive analysis of any pharmacogenetic trait should include an assessment of the importance of ethnogeographic factors. As illustrated by the studies in Caucasians and Japanese, this requirement poses no analytical problems beyond those already considered for a given population group.
