[21 Purification and Assessment of Proteins Associated with Nitric Oxide Synthase

Calmodulin was the first polypeptide shown to interact with nitric oxide synthases (NOS).1 A variety of polypeptides have subsequently been identified that interact with NOS (Table I1"18). Some of them, such as calmodulin, interact with all three of the NOS isoforms: neuronal NOS (nNOS or NOS 1), inducible NOS (iNOS or NOS2), and endothelial NOS (eNOS or NOS3).
