Iodixanol (Visipaque). Iodixanol is a viscous, isosmolar, nonionic, water-soluble dimer with 49% iodine content. It is formulated as an isotonic solution for intravascular injection and indicated for excretory urography, angiography, and CT procedures.
Iohexol (Omnipaque). Iohexol is a low-osmolar, non-ionic monomer with 46% iodine content. Iohexol is one of the few iodinated contrast agents indicated for intrathecal use (myelography). Only selected concentrations of the product have this indication. Besides myelography, iohexol finds widespread use in excretory urography, angiography, and CT procedures. Specific concentrations may have additional indications in adults and/or children for arthrography, hysterosalpingography, endoscopic retrograde pancreatog-raphy, cholangiopancreatography, herniography, voiding cystourethrography, oral pass-thru examination of the GI tract or CT of the abdomen.
Iopamidol (Isovue). Iopamidol is a low-osmolar, non-ionic monomer with 49% organically bound iodine. It is indicated for use in angiography, excretory urography, and numerous CT procedures.
