Ambrisentan. Ambrisentan, (+)-(2S)-2-[(4,6-dimethyl-pyrimidin-2-yl)oxy]-3-methoxy-3,3-diphenylpropanoic acid (Letairis), is a potent ETA selective endothelin antagonist that, is indicated, in the treatment of pulmonary arterial hyperten sion (PAH). PAH is a rare disease that if left untreated has a high mortality rate. In June of 2007, the FDA granted approval of ambrisentan for once-daily treatment of PAH. Studies have shown that it improves a 6-minute walk by about 30 to 60 m for patients receiving placebo.49
