2.3.4 Diuretic Drugs. Commonly used diuretics are aromatic or heteroaromatic compounds, in many cases chlorinated and bearing a sulphonamide function. Reductive dechlorination is often a major path, as shown in Scheme 40 for trichlormethiazide (134) which gives (135).147 A detailed discussion of the photochemistry of diuretic drugs by D. E.
