Safety Characteristics

Safety evaluation of SNO-PEG-Hb was performed in a volume overload experimental model using rats. Unmodified Hb, PEG-Hb and SNO-PEG-Hb were infused into male Wistar rats at 1.15 g/kg body weight (5% Hb solution). Bovine serum albumin was used as the control. Blood samples were obtained 1, 3, 7 and 14 days after administration.
