Gene Delivery Into Mammalian Cells

The introduction of recombinant DNA (including desired genes) into cells is becoming an increasingly important strategy for understanding certain gene functions in neurons or glia. These advances in gene function studies have benefited the diagnosis of, and therapy for, a variety of disorders that affect the CNS. The delivery of desired genes into cells may also provide the technological base for insight into molecular mechanisms of brain function and, ultimately, for gene therapy in the CNS.
