The use of EEG and related technology of evoked potentials has helped contribute considerably to our understanding of the pathophysiology of schizophrenia (Ford and Mathalon 2005; Turetsky et al. 1998). Tucker et al. (2003) used dense-array EEG to study frontolimbic responsiveness in patients with moderate depression. A potential for the use of EEG technology used in conjunction with fMRI in study of analgesia and pain management has been recommended by some authors (Wise and Tracey 2006). Pizzagalli et al. (2003) combined PET and EEG technologies using a source localization technique to identify disruption of frontocingulate connectivity among patients with depression. Studies such as these provide critical information that can complement and enhance our understanding of functional imaging approaches.
